Little linguists!
About Us
This site is created to share fun and interesting facts about languages around the world.
starting point
Back in ninth grade, one of my English teachers taught me about the IPA (International Phonetics Alphabet) and I’ve been captivated by the topic since that day.
When excitement kicks in
The fact that the IPA can be used to represent the sounds of every languages around the world, has excited me a lot. I’ve been passionate in digging further into the topic, which led me to discover more about fundamental linguistics.
the discovery
After learning the basics, I’ve come to know that linguistics has four branches. My favorite branch is Historical linguistics, which makes me realize that every language is unique because each carries the perspectives, cultures, and way of life of people from the past through many centuries.
Here we are!
Therefore, I want to build this website to share the basic information with you, my fellow ‘ little linguists.’ Moreover, I want this website to serve as both an album collecting the fun facts I discovered and a journal of my language discoveries.
Hi! I'm Som-o.
In Thai, Som-o means grapefruit or pomelo. Right now, I’m just a highschooler, who likes to learn about linguistics and languages. So if some of my content is wrong, please feel free to correct it or point out any mistakes. I’d be glad if you could help me develop this platform further with your experience and ideas 😀
I hope that this platform can provide useful knowledge that benefits all of you.
I hope this platform can become a community where people with the same interests can gather and freely exchange ideas.
